How to apply for a card

How to apply for a card

We have already talked to you about how to choose a credit card correctly and easily. Now the only thing left is to order the credit card you like. How to do it?

Offline or online application – which is better?

The most famous and until recently the most popular way – to go to a bank branch and draw a card there. Agree that this is inconvenient and uncomfortable. In addition, it takes a lot of time.

Now all the banks respecting a client come to a new level and offer to order a credit card online. Queues, documents filled out in a hurry, misunderstandings about the terms and conditions of the card are all a thing of the past.

Of course, there are lending institutions that still work the old-fashioned way. In this case, you can’t get away – you’ll have to go to the office with the documents and make an application with a loan officer. Fortunately, there are fewer and fewer banks like that.

The advantages of an online application are obvious:

– You don’t have to spend personal time (and many people find it expensive) on a trip to the bank office;

– You can compare cards of different banks and choose the most advantageous and suitable option with no hurry.

How to issue a card?

Step 1: Apply

First things first, prepare your passport. Next, you need to click the “Online Application” button near the selected card and fill out the form that opens. Be ready to answer questions about your income, job, family, presence/absence of a car, real estate, etc. Do not provide any false information! This can get you rejected, not only in this application, but also by other lenders.

Personal information is filled out directly on the bank’s website, and banks are responsible for it. So you don’t have to worry about the safety of your data.

Step 2: Waiting for a decision

After completing the application, you need to wait for an answer from the bank. The waiting period may vary – from 1 minute to several days or even weeks (depending on the bank). You will be notified by phone, SMS or via the Internet. Read more about this in our article “How do I know the decision on the loan application”.

Be prepared for the fact that the approved amount may be less than the amount you stated in the application. But do not get upset, because most banks allow good faith clients to increase the credit limit over time.

One more point – some banks do not indicate an exact rate on the credit card, and write that it is “established individually for each client. In this case it is possible that you will not be happy with the final interest rate. There are two options here: the first is to start using the credit card and subsequently write an application for a reduced rate (if allowed); the second is to reject the card and apply to another financial institution.

Step 3: Obtaining a card

After receiving a positive decision, you need to go to the bank with a package of documents. Some will be sufficient for a passport, and somewhere will require proof of salary – it all depends on the bank and the credit card you choose. And especially advanced credit organizations in general will send you a card by mail or courier.

Have a nice card!
